UNRAVEL Route Guide: Make Space Before You Need It
A board-first guide to UNRAVEL that explains how to read perimeter exits, chain useful openings, and preserve a route into the center.
Read the perimeter as a departure board
Every tile in UNRAVEL announces the direction it wants to travel. Start by checking the pieces nearest the four edges and follow each arrow through the remaining squares in its lane. A route counts only when it reaches open space without crossing another tile.
Keep more than one valid departure in view. Comparing candidates helps you avoid spending a useful opening on a tile that changes very little.
Choose the exit that edits the board
The most valuable move changes how several other routes read. Look at the square a tile will leave and ask which arrows will be able to pass through it. A move with a visible follow-up gives you both progress and new information.
Work in short links. Release one tile, confirm the opening, and add the next move only when the updated board supports it. This is more dependable than memorizing a long imagined sequence.
Carry an open route into the center
As the outer tiles disappear, preserve a broad lane that reaches the remaining cluster. Central pieces have fewer alternative exits, so they benefit most from shared open space.
If the center closes into a loop, restart with one change: replace the first move that consumed your shared lane. Keep the good part of the route instead of rebuilding the whole solution randomly.
